CAVO is now integrated with TruCode. The upper portion of the TruCode tab contains the demographic and encounter information while the lower portion contains the coding information.

  • The first field that will need to be populated is the encounter type. CAVO lets the end user choose between inpatient and outpatient. Notice that when an encounter type is selected, there are additional fields displayed. All of these fields are required with the exception of newborn weight and version.

  • The end-user will need to populate the patient status, which is also known as the discharge status. This is a type-ahead field and either the code or description may be used.

  • The admit and discharge date can be populated by entering the date of service or by selecting it from the calendar icon. Notice that once the admit date has been populated, the discharge date updates automatically.

  • The date of birth can be populated by entering in the information or by selecting it from the calendar.

  • The gender will default to unknown.

  • The facility is another type ahead. End-users may search for a facility by name, address, or MPN, also known as Medicare Provider Number.

There are many options for Groupers and Pricers within TruCode. The version is not required and if not populated, TruCode will calculate the correct version based on the date of service entered.
