To begin coding, you'll want to start on the lower panel of the TruCode tab.
The first value that will need to be entered is the Admit diagnosis. End-users can either enter the code or search for the code. To search, click on the ellipses menu.
A Copyright notification will pop up that end-users will need to confirm to continue.
End-users can search for codes, terms, or abbreviations. Once an end-user enters a search, the indexes will populate in the upper pane.
The lower pane will show the alphabetical list of indexes available. On the left, there is an "I" icon that contains the instructional notes. To access these notes, click on the icon.
To add this code to the encounter, double click on the code. The description will populate to the right and the code is displayed on the left. End-users can now enter this as the primary. Once the information is populated, the description will be available on the right side.
The present on admission indicator (POA) reveals a drop-down list. Select the appropriate POA indicator.
To the far right, there is a trash can if a code needs to be removed.
Right next to the code is a warning indicator. This indicates that an edit has been made. To see additional information about the edit, hover over it for a tooltip with the description.
To add a procedure code, click on the code. The code can be entered directly or searched for.
Once a code is selected, additional information will need to be populated. Notice that the lower pane looks different than when the diagnosis was populated. All columns will need to be filled out in order to add the code to the encounter.
Once all the correct qualifiers have been selected, an "Add Code" button will display. Select this to add the procedure code.
The date of the procedure code will need to be populated.
Note - As information is being selected for the procedure, TruCode will offer articles of interest to help with an end-user's research. To view the articles, select the link.
After the diagnosis and procedure codes have been populated, the DRG information is populated below and include code, length of service, weight, and reimbursement amount.
The version number will calculate based on the date of service provided unless that information has been hardcoded.
Hovering over the DRG code will provide end-users with the DRG title.
The far left column displays your grouper flag information.
