Eligible Roles: Supervisor, QA
Predefined searches are an essential part of the CAVO® framework. Properly designed searches are the key to extracting meaningful data across millions of records. Users with QA access have the ability to add and edit pre-defined searches.
Click on your name in the top right corner and then select Predefined Search.
To create a new query, click the + New Predefined Search in the bottom left corner of the modal.
Once created, queries become accessible to all users of CAVO®. Your naming schemes and abbreviations are both part of how users will access the query, so try to choose words or codes that your staff easily recognizes. For instance, if you would like queries associated with a particular DRG to be easily accessible to your end-users, consider putting the DRG code in the title or abbreviation of the query.
Allowed characters for abbreviations:
lower case letters
numbers
hyphens
Example of a valid abbreviation: ccc-003
We recommend a series of hyphenated letter/number combinations, as displayed above. These abbreviations must be unique, but feel free to make versions of searches like p-100-v1, p-100-v2, etc. Making similar queries with small tweaks can help determine which queries are the most successful. You can refine these over time based upon outcomes.
After you have filled out the necessary fields, be sure to click Save Changes in the lower right corner.
Activating, Deactivating, and Deleting a Search
To activate or deactivate a search, select a search from the list on the left and then select the appropriate status button at the top. To delete a search, first deactivate it with the slider, then click Delete.
Testing your Search
To test out your predefined search, refer to Using Predefined Searches.
Note: Clicking the Search Tip box above the search field to find references on crafting more complex queries using Lucene Search rules.
