The Validate Module extracts clinical data contained within the documents in the Library Module. Validate's models organize and present clinical extractions in a summarized view for various concepts, including diagnoses. Validate's extractions list out individual clinical data points to be reviewed, filtered, and sorted.

Add a Model to a Case

CAVO® captures clinical data after uploading a file to the Library; To add a model to a case, open the Validate Module and select Add Models.

  • Select the applicable models and click save

Navigating Models

After the models have loaded, clinical data will display below the model's name. You can add more than one model to a case. Scroll down the Validation screen to view all information presented by the models. Each row contains the Category (the type of data identified), Value, and Date and Time. Collapse or expand sections by clicking the arrow icon to the left the of the category title.

Validate in Document

Verify extracted data within the document by clicking Validate In Document on the corresponding row. The corresponding page will open within the Library.

Filtering

Easily search for extractions without scrolling through the list by using the filters—the Quick Filter searches across all extracted data within the selected models. This includes Values, Date, and Time. The Contributing filter will narrow the clinical data to only show those that meet or exceed the threshold for supporting a particular concept. For example, if the Sepsis-2 model is selected, Contributing would show the data that supports a sepsis diagnosis based on Sepsis-2 criteria like high white blood cell counts. The Not Contributing filter will narrow the clinical extractions to display information within normal limits or not located within the documentation.

Expand Findings

The Validation screen consolidates clinical elements within a case displaying the strongest evidence for each criteria point. You may want to see additional examples identified in the record for certain elements. For example, an elevated heart rate may be caused by an arrhythmia, but a sustained heart rate could indicate a variety of other things like infections, pain, or heart failure. To see all examples of a data element captured within Validate, click Expand this Entity. The Extractions tab will open and filter the list of extractions to that specific data type.

Export

To add the model summary to the Library, click the Export button. Select Models View and then click Export.

Navigating Extractions

Select the Extractions tab to see all clinical data captured within the Library documents. Like the Models tab, the extracted data contains the Category, Value, and Date and Time. Extractions with Confidence Scores of less than 85 are highlighted in red, indicating a possible error within the information captured.

Column Sorting

Sorting extractions help establish timelines and spot trends. To sort the contents of any column, click within the column header. The sort arrow's direction indicates the ascending or descending order of the column's contents.

Applying Filters

Narrow down your view within the extractions by applying a Filter.

Extractions can be filtered by date ranges, timeframes (current, historical, or all), flags (chief complaint, unflagged, or all flags), status (present, possible, absent, unmarked, or all), page types (tagged pages in the case), or category (extracted clinical data). Categories can then be filtered by values (using greater than, equals, less than logic).

Category Filter

Filter for one or more categories by creating a filter. The Category field is a type-a-head list. Begin typing the item and select the desired element within the list. Add additional logic to narrow the results or select All Values to see a list of all items extracted. The results can be sorted by Value or Date and Time.

Add additional elements to your filter by clicking Add another row.

Remove or copy a filter by selecting the applicable row's 3-dot icon.

Ignore a filter

Toggle filter criteria by switching on Ignore Filters. While filters are ignored, all clinical extractions are displayed. Switch to Apply Filters to go back to viewing only the extractions that meet the filtered conditions.

Save a Filter as Preset

To save a filter condition, so the same filtered conditions are accessible within another case, click Save in the bottom right.

Once the folder is selected, populate the name of the new filter and click Save Preset.

Inside the presents modal, you can organize saved filters by creating folders within your Private Folder. To create a folder, click New, add the name of the folder, and click the checkmark to save. Update a folder name by clicking Rename on a selected Folder, populate the new name, and select the checkmark to save. Remove all filters within a folder by clicking Delete on the selected folder.

Load a Previously Saved Filter

To access a saved preset filter, click the Load button in the bottom right.

Navigate to the folder containing the Preset filter, select the Preset on the right side, and click Load Preset.

Export Extractions

Click the Export button to add the data from Extractions to the Library. Select Extractions View and then click Export.
